THOMAS ROPER

Elected intendant September 9, 1799, succeeding Henry William DeSaussure. Re-elected September 8, 1800; succeeded by John Ward, September 1801.
Born 1760, died April 15, 1829, buried in St. Philip's Episcopal Church cemetery.
Son of William Roper and Grace Hext, married Lydia Harvey 1781.
Planter, St. Paul's Parish.
Represented St. Philip's and St. Michael's parishes in State House during three General Assemblies, 1796-1801.
